The Jane Hotel
The Jane is a maritime themed budget hotel with great décor. Patrons stay in cruise ship style rooms, as the building was originally built in 1908 as a hotel for sailors. Survivors of the Titantic stayed here in 1912, before being taken over by the YMCA. The Jane came back onto rock scene in the 80s and 90s, being host to rock parties such as Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the Million Dollar Club. And the hotel let some of the old sailors still live there, and share the bathroom down the hall with patrons. (you can tell which rooms are theirs by the lack of key card on the door)

Have lunch or dinner at adorable Café Gitane, or have a drink in the old timey Lobby bar or Ballroom. And crazy policy- “The Jane lobby bar will also revive the revered New York tradition of bartering drinks for art from its patrons.”

And their website sure is neat.
